About Me

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Andrea Paul: food-lover, kitchen experimenter, and registered dietitian.

A little about me…

I live in Maine with my handsome hubby of two years (#MrKQC) and our lovable, scruffy-faced dog, Archie.

I’ve lived in Maine for the past five years, but I was actually born and raised in Nova Scotia! Being from the east coast of Canada is very much a part of my identity, which is why you might notice some maritime flair in many of my recipes!

These days, when I’m not working, you can find me listening to podcasts and music, running, yoga-ing, checking out a new Portland eatery, hanging out with pals over a glass of wine, or curled up on the couch with the hubs and pup watching something silly on Netflix.

Education and Nutrition Philosophy…

I graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, and then completed my dietetic internship in Halifax the following year. Maintaining my dietetic license requires yearly continuing education, so I’m always gaining new knowledge or honing my skills.

I love being a dietitian, and truly believe there is no better profession for me. I was drawn to study nutrition because #1: I love food, #2: I value and believe in the importance of health #3: I am fascinated by people’s relationship to food and health.

I consider myself an anti-diet dietitian because I believe that health looks different for everyone and that there is not such thing as “perfect” when in comes to healthful eating – nor should we strive for perfection. I hold these views because we live in a culture that encourages extreme beliefs, fear, and guilt around food. Our culture also wraps “health” up in weight and appearance. These things are harmful to us as individuals, as a society, and are very much a part of the reason I have launched this platform. I think our food experiences should be just as pleasurable, satisfying and fun as they are nourishing to our body. When I say that I value health, know that I am talking about all aspects of health – body, mind, and spirit. If this peaks your interest, please stay and browse around!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you’ll follow along!
